more photos from my first trip through the Peruvian Amazon jungle

our portable lunch: Juanes- rice with chicken wrapped in a banana leaf.  The  wrapped leaf is supposed to represent St John the baptist's severed head.

our guide found a turtle nest.  He claims that these are not endangered turtles and are OK to eat, which we did with ground beef and rice

a rough map of what we did - we started at Nauta along the Maranon River, then  up the Yanayacu River and  set up camp at the Amazon King lodge.
